Job summary

Norfolk County Council is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team at County Hall, Norwich. You will support day-to-day budgeting and accounting functions, provide analysis to inform decisions, and contribute to transformational finance projects within a large, public sector organisation.

The role requires CCAB qualification, proven accounting and financial management experience, and the ability to lead a small team.

Qualifications

• CCAB-qualified accountant with substantial experience in budgeting and accounting functions.
• Experience operating within a finance team and supporting both management and financial accounting.
• Able to analyse complex financial and non-financial data and influence decision making.
• Willing to contribute to ongoing improvement and leadership of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day budgeting and accounting requirements.
• Lead on or contribute to transformation projects within the finance function.
• Ensure accuracy and transparency of budgets and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with services to deliver high quality financial service.
