Job summary

Conservatory Outlet in Wakefield is seeking a Stores Supervisor to lead the daily Stores operation, supervising the team, controlling stock and ensuring materials arrive on time to support production.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong organisational and communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a stores, warehouse, materials or stock-control environment.
  • Previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
  • Good knowledge of stock-control processes and material handling.
  • Experience managing a high volume and variety of stock products.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence managing performance and maintaining team standards.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and stock-management systems.
  • A proactive and accountable approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
  • Experience within the window or manufacturing industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • An FLT licence would also be desirable; however, training can be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support and motivate the Stores team.
  • Plan and allocate daily workloads in line with production priorities.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, picking and issuing of materials.
  • Ensure deliveries are checked, recorded and put away accurately.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and complete regular stock checks.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, shortages, damage and picking errors.
  • Monitor workflow and respond to delays, shortages and bottlenecks.
  • Ensure materials are stored, labelled, rotated and segregated correctly.
  • Identify and isolate damaged or incorrect materials.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, briefings and one-to-one support.
  • Support employee inductions and on-the-job training.
  • Address performance, conduct, attendance and timekeeping concerns.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Yard and Transport.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve stock control, workflow and service levels.

About the role

We are looking for an organised and proactive Stores Supervisor to lead the daily operation of our Stores department.

You will supervise and support the Stores team, ensuring stock is accurately controlled, deliveries are processed efficiently and Production receives the right materials at the right time.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident managing people, maintaining high standards and responding to changing production priorities.
