About the Opportunity

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be partnering with a growing and ambitious distributor in the search for a Stores Supervisor to join their team based in Billingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive inventory professional to take ownership of a standalone stores function, playing a key role in supporting operational performance and customer delivery.

With the full backing of the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape processes, drive continuous improvement and establish best-in-class stock control procedures across the business. This is far more than a traditional stores role; it's an opportunity to become a trusted operational partner, ensuring materials flow efficiently through the business while delivering exceptional inventory accuracy and service.

The Role

As Stores Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective management of all inventory and materials across the business. You'll oversee stock movements, maintain inventory accuracy, support production and operational activities, and drive continuous improvements within the stores function.

Acting as the central point of contact for all stock-related activities, you'll play a critical role in ensuring products and materials are available when needed, supporting customer delivery and operational efficiency.

This is a standalone position offering significant ownership and the opportunity to make a tangible impact within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities
Stores & Inventory Management
  • Take full ownership of the stores and inventory function.
  • Manage all stock movements into and out of operational and build areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP and stock management systems.
  • Carry out regular cycle counts, stock audits and inventory reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, implementing preventative measures where required.
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively coordinate replenishment requirements.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Organise and maintain efficient storage locations and material flow processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong stock control disciplines across the operation.
Material Control & Order Fulfilment
  • Pick, prepare and issue materials for customer orders.
  • Ensure kits and build orders are complete, accurate and available to schedule.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities and specifications before stock release.
  • Manage the accurate return of unused stock to inventory.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure uninterrupted workflow and product availability.
Quality & Compliance
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages or specification issues.
  • Carry out quality checks on components before release.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and enhance stores procedures and stock control processes.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Stores Supervisor, Materials Controller, Inventory Controller or Stock Controller
  • Strong experience managing inventory accuracy and stock control processes.
  • Background within manufacturing, engineering, logistics, distribution or supply chain environments.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of key responsibilities.
