Balaena is hiring a Stores Operative for our Falmouth site to support the procurement team by ensuring materials and stock are available when needed. You will work across General Stores and Goods Received, helping to keep projects moving and operations efficient.

The role requires practical, accurate work, computer literacy with data entry tools, and a proactive approach to safety. Prior stores/logistics experience and a current forklift license are advantageous.

Competenze

• Experience in stores or logistics operations.
• Forklift certification held.
• Good computer literacy with Excel and data entry.
• BPSS/SC clearance may be required for access to sites.

Keep Operations Moving

Do you enjoy a hands-on role where no two days are the same, take pride in keeping things organised and accurate, and work safely, efficiently and reliably in a busy industrial environment?

We are looking for a Stores Operative to join our Procurement team at Balaena Falmouth. Reporting to the Stores Supervisor and working across both General Stores and Goods Received, you will help keep our ship repair projects moving by ensuring materials, equipment and stock are available where and when they are needed, supporting colleagues and operations across the business.

What will you make happen?

• Ensure materials, tools and equipment are issued efficiently to operational teams.
• Maintain accurate stock and inventory records using company systems.
• Support effective stock control processes and assist with stock monitoring activities.
• Receive, inspect and process incoming goods and deliveries.
• Identify, record and report damaged or non-conforming materials.
• Maintain organised, safe and efficient store areas at all times.
• Support the movement and handling of materials using appropriate equipment.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure operational requirements are met.
• Escalate issues, shortages or concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Contribute to the smooth and efficient running of stores and logistics activities across the site.

What you'll bring

• Previous experience of working in stores/logistics
• Knowledge of lifting equipment will be advantageous
• Knowledge of stock control including computerised data entry
• A good level of computer literacy, specifically MS Excel & Sage 200
• A current forklift certification

• A full clean driving licence, for duties driving company vehicles
