Job description

Specialist Group are seeking an experienced Stores Manager / Inventory Manager to manage the inbound supply and storage of materials to its manufacturing Head Quarters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full Stores function, establish relationships with key stakeholders, and proactively drive improvements and cost reductions across the department, all whilst delivering value for the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the safe and accurate receipt, storage, and delivery of goods.
  • Organise & optimize warehouse space to ensure safe & efficient storage of parts.
  • Ensuring all goods are stored in correct location and dispatched in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inventory & Cost Control – Work closely with the key stakeholders to maintain stock accuracy & minimise costs.
  • Plan and manage stock accuracy activities, including stock-takes and investigations.
  • Highlight unresolved issues to the Head of Procurement and work on resolutions.
  • Proactively plan and engage with other departments to ensure a collaborative approach and effective resolution of issues impacting the stock management process and warehouse function.
  • Work closely with Design team to establish if any current or existing stock can be used for upcoming projects before ordering new material.
  • Assist the purchasing department in controlling and administering the receipt and/or return of supplies.
  • Identification and implementation of solution/improvements/preventative action where possible.
  • Liaise closely with accounts department and assist in financial audits.
  • Data input to Company ERP system.
  • Minimise stock holding without risk to project delivery through enhanced supplier stocking agreements.
  • Drive the continual development of the Company ERP system as a key tool in supply chain management.
Essential Skills:
  • Experience in stock controlling and account management.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Able to challenge at all levels, using appropriate manner and behaviour to encourage positive change.
  • Motivated to make a difference in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent IT Literacy with strong Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Experience in working with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Team player with strong focus on customer service.
Desirable Skills:
  • Previous experience in construction industry buying, preferably joinery related.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Business Central.

  • Aged stock value.
  • Total stock value in relation to sales.
  • Cycle count accuracy.
  • Material inflation held to less than national rate of inflation.
