Job summary

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and London Borough of Wandsworth is seeking a Stores Assistant to provide an efficient, reliable stores service. You will ensure materials, plant and equipment are available, properly issued and recorded, and kept secure and well organised across the depots.

The role involves receiving deliveries, loading/unloading, stock control, updating stores systems and supporting purchasing, with a practical, flexible and customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Training - willingness to undertake training for a counterbalance forklift truck and JCB/loading shovel licence.
• Experience of working in a stores, warehouse, depot, logistics, building materials, highways or similar operational environment.
• Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to record stock, complete paperwork and use stores systems accurately.
• Ability to work to deadlines and manage a varied daily workload.
• Experience of working safely around vehicles, plant, machinery, materials or equipment.
• Experience of dealing with suppliers, operatives, contractors or internal customers.
• Experience receiving, checking, issuing and recording stock or materials.

Responsibilities

• To provide an efficient, reliable and customer-focused stores service that supports operational teams by ensuring materials, plant and equipment are available, correctly issued, accurately recorded and safely stored.
• Maintain stock control across Richmond and Wandsworth, support purchasing and deliveries, and keep stores areas clean, secure and organised.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, loading and unloading vehicles, maintaining stock levels and updating stores systems.
• Support with purchasing activity and ensure health and safety requirements are followed.
