Qualifications

Job description

Location: Borough Green, Kent

Join H+H, a leader in the construction industry! We're looking for a Stores Controller to be efficient in operating the stores department. You will possess strong organisational skills and good attention to detail. This role is a permanent, full-time role working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory management:
    • Implement a system to track stock levels, ensuring inventory is maintained to meet business requirements.
    • Utilise inventory monitoring tools to track stock levels and set reorder thresholds that prevent stockouts and reduce the carrying cost of excess inventory.
    • Conduct regular and thorough inventory audits, aiming for a high degree of accuracy in stock records to support reliable decision-making and financial reporting. (Aiming for above 95% inventory accuracy).
    • Design an efficient storage layout to maximise space and allow quick and organised access to materials, which increases operational efficiency.
    • Develop a systematic approach for placing orders, taking into account supplier lead times, budget constraints, and projected demand to maintain a balanced flow of supplies.
    • Maintain a meticulous record-keeping system for inventory transactions and supplier data, ensuring information is up-to-date, accurate, and easily retrievable for analysis.
    • Adhere to the company's policies, procedures and protocols to ensure the highest quality standards for all our products and services.
    • Drive results by setting ambitious goals, measuring progress, and continuously improving.
    • Establish an inspection protocol for all deliveries, verifying both quantity and quality, to maintain high standards and avoid costly errors or defects.
    • Foster strong collaboration between the engineering department and other key departments to ensure material needs are met promptly, supporting uninterrupted production.
    • Continuously seek out and implement cost-saving measures and process optimisations in the engineering stores to contribute to the overall financial health of the Organisation. Prioritise safety and proper handling in material storage to meet regulatory standards and maintain a secure workplace.
    • Conduct all activities in line with the company's health and safety protocols and in compliance with relevant health and safety and environmental laws.
    • There is a requirement to lift and move heavy objects in line with manual handling guidelines.

  • About You:
    • Higher education qualification is required (e.g. HND, HNC, NVQ, A-level or equivalent)
    • Proven experience in inventory management, preferably in an engineering or industrial environment.
    • Strong Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g. excel, word).
    • Knowledge of engineering materials, equipment, and procurement processes.
    • Knowledge and experience in business ERP systems, ideally Dynamics 365 Business Central.
