As a Storesperson Labourer here at Merville Barracks, Colchester, Circular Road South, Colchester, your role is pivotal to us delivering the best possible service for our colleagues and clients. This key role keeps the day-to-day operations running smoothly, and your importance to our facilities management is essential!
Responsible for activities related to Central Quartermaster Services and/or the detached Independent Unit as part of the team, ensuring:
- Standards of service as detailed in the Service Standard Statement (SSS), in accordance with authority regulations and contractual terms.
- Delivery of contracted outputs via Sodexo and MOD IT systems.
- Support for the Warehouse and Distribution Senior Storekeepers or Military Line Manager as requested.
What you'll do:
- Support the distribution, warehouse, and independent unit team in daily tasks required for delivery outputs.
- Assist with the availability, serviceability, and movement of all Garrison RQMS or independent unit stores.
- Attend team briefs, huddles, and meetings as required.
- Maintain professional work standards at all times.
- Conduct daily checks on all LOLER equipment, including forklift trucks, once trained.
- Help prepare clothing packs for units deploying on operations, as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Collect stores from the military DO.
- Care for all company and authority-used equipment, reporting faults to management.
- Deliver logistics outputs in accordance with MOD regulations and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain health and safety standards in all operations.
- Report unsafe behaviors, near misses, and incidents promptly to support a 'Zero Harm' culture.
- Develop and maintain positive internal and external networks (both Sodexo and MOD).
- Engage in continuous professional development in warehouse and distribution areas.
- Support ad hoc services as required.
- Assist the team in passing internal and external audits successfully.
What you bring:
- Practical understanding of logistics warehouse and distribution roles.
- Effective numerical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Full UK Driving License held for 2 years or more.
- Must be over 25 years old to drive company vehicles.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Customer service focus.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience managing customer relationships in a warehouse environment.
- BPSS clearance.
