Job summary

TJ Morris Limited, trading as Home Bargains, is seeking Store Team Members with a focus on cleaning and hygiene across our Aylesbury store. This part-time, permanent role offers up to 20 hours per week with evenings (up to 10pm).

Hourly rates: £12.71 (18–20) and £13.00 (21+), with a closing date of 08/11/2026. You’ll work as part of a team, perform cleaning duties, assist with customer service and stock replenishment, operate tills when required, and help maintain store standards during busy

Qualifications

• Must be aged 18 or over with health and safety compliant for cleaning duties and machinery.
• Reliable and punctual; pride in cleanliness.
• Willing to undertake cleaning duties and operate cleaning machinery after training.
• Flexible to support other Store Team Member duties as required.
• Available to work shifts including early starts (5am) or late finishes (up to 10pm).
• Positive attitude and team player.
• Experience in cleaning or fast-paced retail is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning equipment including floor scrubbing machine and follow health and safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets, and public spaces to high standards.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean floors, shelves and displays.
• Respond promptly to spills and hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Ensure safe storage and use of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Carry out additional cleaning duties to maintain store standards.
• Assist customers, replenish stock, and support till operations when required.

Home Bargains is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Store Team Members with a primary focus on maintaining excellent cleaning and hygiene standards throughout the store. additional responsibilities in cleaningduties.

As a Store Team Member - Cleaner, your main responsibilities will involve keeping our shop floor, staff facilities and other areas clean, safe and welcoming for customers and colleagues.

Although this position is primarily focused on cleaning, you will be employed as a Store Team Member. This means you will also be expected to carry out other Store Team Member duties as and when required to support the needs of the business. These may include serving customers, operating tills, replenishing stock, working deliveries and helping maintain store standards.

Job Overview

We are looking for someone who is happy to be flexible, work as part of the wider store team and lend a hand wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Store Standards

• Operate cleaning equipment, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine, following the appropriate training and health and safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets, bathrooms and communal spaces, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean shop floors, shelving, displays and other areas as required.
• Identify and respond promptly to spills, hazards and cleanliness concerns to maintain a safe environment.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
• Complete additional cleaning duties as required to maintain excellent store standards.

Supporting the Wider Store Team

• Welcome customers and assist with queries, providing friendly and helpful customer service.
• Support with replenishing stock, working deliveries and maintaining product displays.
• Assist with till operations and other shop floor activities when required.
• Work alongside colleagues to ensure the store runs smoothly, particularly during busy periods.
• Undertake the full range of Store Team Member duties as reasonably required to support the operational needs of the store.

To be considered for this position, you must:

• Be aged 18 or over, in line with the company's health and safety requirements for the cleaning duties and operation of machinery associated with this role, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine.
• Be reliable, punctual and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Be willing and able to undertake cleaning duties, including operating cleaning machinery following appropriate training.
• Be flexible and willing to support with other Store Team Member duties as and when required.
• Be available to work the shift patterns required by the store, which may include early starts from 5am or late finishes up to 10pm.
• Have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Be polite, professional and committed to providing excellent customer service.
• Previous cleaning experience or experience working in a fast-paced retail environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
