Job description

What you'll do

Store Manager Designate in Glasgow

40 hours a week

At Toolstation, we’re not just interested in what you can bring to us today. We’re also interested in developing your talents, so you can grow with our business and become one of our leaders of tomorrow.

Delivering an outstanding customer proposition. This isn’t your average retail role. It’s much more than an average Store Manager job. Of course, you’ll manage the Branch, but you’ll also be serving customers, checking deliveries, picking items from the warehouse and stocking shelves. And it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. But if you take real pride in leading and motivating a team to achieve great things, our customers will notice and love us all the more for it.

As a store manager designate, you will be supporting our 5 stores in Glasgow with the aim to move you to a permanent base store when available.

Day-to-day
  • Delivering great service: Ensuring your team provides a great customer experience, delivering sales through service.
  • Mucking in: Helping the team get the job done. Checking and unpacking deliveries, opening and closing the branch, stocking shelves, cleaning the branch, and putting orders together.
  • Inspiring: Encouraging a positive mindset, building a culture of feedback, praise, and recognition.
  • Asking questions and building relationships: Making sure your team gets the development they need, supporting future business growth and succession. Ensuring customers leave the branch with everything they need for the job.
  • Leading: From the front, coaching, motivating, and engaging your team to create a great place to work where engagement is key.
  • Building a fun working environment: Maintaining our great product availability and high branch standards, while making sure your branch is somewhere everyone loves coming to work.
What you'll bring
  • Knowledge: Pride in your track record in developing high-performing and engaged retail teams.
  • Hard work and passion: Dedication to leading a team to deliver sales through superb customer service and results.
  • A love of teamwork: Willingness to muck in, get your hands dirty, and passion for developing future leaders.
  • Customer Focus: Ensuring the customer remains at the heart of everything you do.
  • Resilience: Relentless determination to achieve results, coaching your team to deliver.
  • Flexibility: Availability when your team needs you, understanding priorities, and planning effectively.
  • Yourself: Bring your whole self to work and let your personality shine through.
What you'll get

You’ll find every opportunity to be yourself and to bring your personality and potential to work, plus many more opportunities to advance your retail career—up the ladder, across the business, or into other roles within the Travis Perkins Group. We support your development through training and our Toolstation Academy programs.

Additionally, you'll enjoy some of the best benefits in retail, including 22 days’ holidays plus Bank Holidays, a company pension scheme, life assurance, a bonus scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, save and buy as you earn, 20% discounts across Travis Perkins companies, financial education, recognition awards, and discounts at over 1000 retailers.
