Store Manager Role at Our Convenience Stores

To be a great Store Manager at one of our convenience stores, you don’t necessarily need retail experience. Surprised? If you’re a leader who can inspire your team to delight customers every day, analyze reports and data, and transform insights into actionable improvements that your team understands and can support, then you’ll thrive in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

While your team of Customer and Trading Managers will handle shifts and daily operations, you’ll have ultimate control over store performance. You’ll be a visible, accountable leader—finding, solving, and anticipating issues now and in the future, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

You’ll ensure safety and legal compliance for customers and staff. You’ll also develop talent within your teams, maintaining a pipeline of motivated individuals ready to advance into management roles and beyond.

Additional Responsibilities

In some cases, you may manage two stores simultaneously, dividing your time effectively and staying informed about both locations.

Who You Are

You can lead and inspire a large team to deliver exceptional customer experiences. You’re proactive in problem-solving, motivating your teams, and maintaining visibility on the shop floor.

Your analysis will start with the valuable data generated daily—identifying trends, translating them into actionable activities, and prioritizing initiatives that add the most value to your store. To operate effectively, you’ll have access to the latest technology, including handheld devices, enabling mobility and efficiency.

Career Progression

This role provides the experience needed to advance into senior management roles in larger Sainsbury’s stores. With a wide network of stores of various sizes, there are ample opportunities for growth—just demonstrate your capabilities, and we’ll support your development.

What We Offer

We are committed to your career development and offer numerous benefits, including:

  • Private Healthcare: Eligible for single cover, with an annual upgrade option for family coverage.
  • Interest-Free Car Loan: Up to £10,000.
  • Performance Bonus: Annual scheme based on store and individual performance.
  • Discount Card: 10% off shopping at Sainsbury’s, Argos, Tu, and Habitat after four weeks, increasing to 15% on Fridays and Saturdays at Sainsbury’s and on pay days at Argos.
  • Holiday, Maternity, and Paternity Leave
  • Pension Scheme: Company matches 4-7.5% of contributions.
  • Sainsbury’s Share Scheme: Opportunity to invest at discounted prices.
  • Wellbeing Support: Access to emotional support, counseling, legal, and financial advice.
  • Colleague Networks: Connect with like-minded colleagues for support and development.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Hire bikes and equipment with tax and NI savings.
  • Exclusive offers on gym memberships, dining, holidays, retail vouchers, and more.
