Stock Manager job - Shropshire/Cheshire border

Experienced stock manager required for a 300-acre organic livestock farm on the Shropshire/Cheshire border. The role involves sole responsibility for the health and welfare of a flock of 500 Lleyn breeding ewes and a suckler herd of 20 pedigree South Devon cattle, along with followers. The candidate must be experienced in all aspects of animal husbandry, with a proven track record in lambing and calving, and be competent in operating tractors and general machinery.

The role requires versatility, including farm work such as grass management, silage and hay making, fencing, chainsaw operation, record keeping, and potentially digger skills and welding. Experience in organic farming practices is preferred.

We seek someone who is flexible, self-motivated, tidy, honest, trustworthy, loyal, and committed to doing things properly to produce quality results. The farm also runs a day services centre for young adults with learning disabilities, involving growing vegetables and light farm tasks, and we welcome engagement from schools and colleges for educational purposes.

Chester and Shrewsbury are both within 30 minutes. Good local schools and nurseries are available.
