Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd is recruiting for a Goods In & Stock Control Operative to join its warehouse team in Lancaster. The role focuses on receiving, checking and storing incoming goods with strong stock accuracy. You will take ownership of goods-in processes and support wider warehouse operations.

The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-focused and reliable, with good IT skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Forklift experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload and check incoming deliveries against orders and notes.
• Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies and report concerns.
• Book stock into internal systems accurately.
• Label and allocate stock to correct storage locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts.
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
• Monitor stock levels and flag low or excess stock.
• Support picking, packing and dispatch when required.
• Ensure safe handling and a clean, organised warehouse environment.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Goods In & Stock Control Operative
Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 + monthly company performance bonus (Equating to upto £6k per annum)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

A well-established and growing business based in North Lancaster s looking for a Stock Control & Goods in Operative to join its warehouse team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, reliable and hands-on, with a strong eye for detail and a genuine desire to contribute to a successful team.

The business is going through an exciting period of growth, so we're looking for someone who can take ownership of the goods-in and stock control process while supporting the wider warehouse operation.

The Role

As a Goods In & Stock Control Operative, you'll be responsible for ensuring incoming goods are received, checked, recorded and stored accurately, while maintaining high levels of stock accuracy across the warehouse.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Receiving, unloading and checking incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Inspecting goods for damage, discrepancies or quality issues and reporting any concerns.
• Accurately booking stock into internal systems.
• Labelling and allocating stock to the correct storage locations.
• Maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Carrying out regular stock counts and cycle counts.
• Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies.
• Monitoring stock levels and highlighting low or excess stock.
• Supporting picking, packing and dispatch when required.
• Ensuring goods are handled and stored safely.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
• Following all company health & safety procedures.

About You

Working Hours

The role operates between:

Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 5:00pm
Friday: 6:00am - 4:00pm

Example shift pattern:

Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 3:00pm, 7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm
Friday: 6am - 3pm or 7:00am - 4:00pm
