Job description

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented stock controller to manage the flow of inventory within our operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing stock levels, coordinating returns, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring stock is rotated and managed in line with use-by dates. This role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring optimal stock availability across the business. This is a 45 hour working week, Monday to Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

Stock Inventory Management:
• Monitor and maintain accurate stock levels across all storage locations
• Perform regular stock counts and reconciliations
• Update inventory systems and databases with stock movements

Returns Handling:
• Process incoming stock returns, ensuring proper documentation and system updates
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies related to returns
• Liaise with internal departments on return authorisations and replacements
• Repackage where required to ensure fit for re-sale
• Source solutions for stock which is not in a re-saleable condition

Case Investigation:
• Investigate stock variances, damages, or losses
• Investigate customer service errors. For example, missing items, picking errors & delivery errors and share detail with supervisors.
• Compile detailed reports and escalate issues as necessary
• Collaborate with relevant teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions


Stock Rotation & Use-by Date Management:
• Ensure First-In-First-Out (FIFO) practices are consistently applied
• Monitor and manage use-by dates to reduce waste and prevent expired stock
• Conduct regular shelf-life checks and stock condition audits

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for audits and compliance purposes
  • Generate and analyse inventory reports to support decision-making
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to health, safety, and quality standards

General Duties:

  • Support warehouse and operations teams with ad hoc stock-related tasks
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for inventory processes
  • Assist in training team members on inventory control best practice

Person Specification:

  • Good understanding of warehouse management processes and systems.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and MS Excel
  • NetSuite
  • Proven experience in a stock control, inventory, or warehouse environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Good problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of FIFO principles and use-by date compliance preferred
  • Warehouse picking, checking, loading, dispatch processes.
