We are currently recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an entry‑level and receive world‑class training to get you on to a defined career pathway.

About You

WORKING PATTERN

12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Monday‑Friday at 9:00‑17:00.

Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which will be on a zero‑hours basis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Following a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation / decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer / disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12‑15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!

Required Experience
  • Educated on good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end‑user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems.
