Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking staff for the Sterile Services department in the Mid Essex area. The post involves washing, inspecting, packing and sterilising instruments to provide decontamination services for the Theatre complex and other areas.

The role offers career development with externally accredited training and NHS benefits. The post is full-time with internal rotation across days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Good level of literacy demonstrated in applications.
• Experience in roles requiring physical effort (standing for long periods, heavy lifting, pushing/pulling).

Responsibilities

• Learn to work in the disinfection area, in progress, sterilization room and distribution section with training and support.
• Operate capital equipment safely following work instructions and parameters.
• Support senior staff to ensure user requirements are met.
• Ensure all reusable invasive medical devices are clean and reprocessed to HTM 01 standards.
• Report any equipment failure to a senior colleague promptly for repair.
