Job summary

Meridian Trust's Greater Peterborough UTC seeks a Teaching Assistant to support classroom learning and inclusion. You will assist the teacher, help students access learning, and supervise activities to foster independence and interaction.

The ideal candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths, a Level 1+ TA qualification (or willingness to pursue), and proven ability to build positive student relationships with awareness of child protection issues.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English Language and Maths are required.
• Level 1 or above Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to work towards this.
• Experience of supporting students in a classroom with diverse needs.
• Able to form positive relationships with students and awareness of child protection issues.
• Strong team player with good communication skills.
• Highly motivated and enthusiastic, reliable member of the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in the support and inclusion of students.
• Support access to learning for students and encourage interaction and independence.
• Supervise the activities of individuals or groups of students.
• Support students to understand instructions, concentrate, use equipment and motivate the student as needed.
• Establish constructive relationships with students and interact with them in a professional way, according to individual needs.
• Contribute to the management of student behaviour.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students.
