Job Description

McCloskey by OPIS has an opening in its research team for a Principal Research Analyst, specializing in Global Steel News and Price Reporting. Reporting to the Research and Analysis Executive Director, you will take a leadership role within McCloskey's growing steel practice, with a focus on Green Steel. You will be a key part of our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group and the McCloskey research team.

This senior position involves managing junior staff and working alongside our industry-leading steel research team.

You will:

• Report weekly steel prices, including prices and premiums for Green Steel, with a focus on the European market.
• Launch new steel price assessments, define price specifications, and gather market feedback.
• Create news content on the steel sector, emphasizing Green Steel, for daily and weekly news deliverables.
• Conduct periodic research on topical industry issues such as regulatory developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipelines, and ESG.
• Maintain and develop client and industry relationships.
• Share and source market intelligence.
• Assist in business development by supporting OPIS' account managers, maintaining sales pipelines, and contributing to the sales process.
• Represent McCloskey and OPIS in the steel industry through client engagement, industry presentations, media interviews, and content marketing.

You have:

• Experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries or markets.
• Excellent interpersonal, impact, and influence skills.
• Strong presentation and public discussion skills, including moderating panels at conferences.
• Quantitative skills (advantageous).
• Exceptional written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
