Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Steel Pans Coach to join our vibrant secondary school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people and develop their skills in steel pan performance. If you are a dynamic musician with a love for sharing your skills, we would love to hear from you.

We are an 'Outstanding' (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. We moved into our brand-new building two years after opening, which is modern, bright and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities across the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and have strong community support, with waiting lists for entry into every year group.

We expect students to be academically successful and also to be well-rounded individuals with a strong social conscience, ready to lead in their communities and beyond. Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Lead engaging steel pan sessions for students across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Prepare and rehearse ensembles for school concerts and community events.
  • Motivate and support students to enjoy music-making and build confidence.
  • Work flexibly with the school\'s music department to deliver high-quality provision.
Requirements
  • Has experience teaching or coaching steel pans, ideally with young people.
  • Is passionate about music education and able to inspire learners.
  • Can demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Is reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting the ethos of our school.
  • Holds a recognised music or teaching qualification (or has equivalent professional experience).
