Job summary

Masstemps is recruiting an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy manufacturing company near the Walsall area. The role involves welding metal components to high standards and supporting production in a fast paced environment.

You must hold a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and be comfortable working outdoors in a yard. You will move steel stock, load deliveries, band and prepare products, check against job sheets and maintain accurate stock locations while following health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence and practical experience operating the truck.
• Experience handling steel stock or heavy materials is advantageous.
• Experience using steel banding/strapping equipment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance FLT to move steel materials, stock and finished products around the yard and warehouse.
• Load and unload steel products and deliveries, ensuring materials are stored safely.
• Band and strap steel products securely using steel banding equipment.
• Measure and prepare steel products before banding to ensure correct orders.
• Check steel products against job sheets, delivery notes and order requirements.
• Maintain accurate stock locations and keep the yard tidy and organized.
• Carry out basic checks on FLT and banding equipment and report faults.

Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced MIG Welder to join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the Walsall area.

THE ROLE

• Operate a counterbalance FLT to safely move steel materials, stock and finished products around the yard and warehouse.
• Load and unload steel products and deliveries, ensuring materials are positioned and stored safely.
• Band and strap steel products securely using steel banding equipment ready for storage or dispatch.
• Measure and prepare steel products before banding to ensure orders are correctly prepared.
• Use appropriate lifting equipment and FLT attachments when handling long, heavy or awkward steel products.
• Check steel products against job sheets, delivery notes and order requirements.
• Ensure bundled steel is securely strapped and suitable for transportation.
• Assist with loading customer and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate stock locations and keep the yard and storage areas organised.
• Carry out basic checks on the FLT and banding equipment and report any faults.
• Follow safe working practices when handling heavy steel, banding equipment and lifting machinery.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow all relevant health & safety procedures.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience operating a Counterbalance FLT within a steel, metal or industrial environment.
• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence and practical experience operating the truck.
• Experience handling steel stock, metal products or other heavy materials would be highly advantageous.
• Previous experience using steel banding/strapping equipment.
• Good understanding of safe methods for securing and handling heavy or awkward loads.
• Experience loading and unloading HGVs or delivery vehicles would be beneficial.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a busy yard/warehouse environment.
• Good awareness of manual handling and workplace health & safety.
• Reliable and physically capable of handling steel products and carrying out general yard duties.
• Experience within a steel stockholding, metal processing or distribution environment would be advantageous.

HOURS OF WORK

08:00am - 16:30pm Monday Friday

PAY RATE

£13.00ph
