Job summary

AWD online in the Midlands is seeking a reliable Steel Fixer with strong construction experience to join our site team. You will be responsible for reading plans, setting out and securing steel reinforcement for concrete structures, and ensuring high-quality workmanship on busy projects.

This role requires ability to read technical drawings, tie rebar, and perform shuttering and concreting safely. A valid Blue CSCS Card and NVQ in Steel Fixing are preferred; multiple positions are available.

Qualifications

• NVQ in Steel Fixing preferred.
• Valid Blue CSCS Card.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Experience tying reinforced steel.
• Capable of shuttering and concreting.
• Reliable, hardworking and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Set out the work area using site plans.
• Cut and bend bars or mesh.
• Tie rebar together with wire, clips or welds.
• Fit spacers and supports.
• Fix wooden formwork and shuttering used to hold setting concrete in place.
• Fix steel to concrete bases.
• Install beams and pre-cast slabs.

A well-established tunnelling and construction contractor is looking for reliable and hardworking Steel Fixers to join its team, working safely while delivering high-quality workmanship on reinforced concrete projects.

DUTIES

• Work Area Set-Up: Set out the work area using site plans
• Bar and Mesh Preparation: Cut and bend bars or mesh
• Rebar tying: Tie rebar together with wire, clips or welds to build up sections
• Spacers and Supports: Fit spacers and supports
• Formwork and Shuttering: Fix the wooden formwork and shuttering used to hold setting concrete in place
• Steel Fixing to Bases: Fix steel to concrete bases
• Beam and Slab Installation: Install beams and pre-cast slabs

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• NVQ in Steel Fixing preferred
• Valid Blue CSCS Card
• Ability to understand technical drawings
• Extensive construction experience working in a similar role
• Experience tying reinforced steel
• Capable of shuttering and concreting
• Reliable, hardworking and committed to working safely while delivering high-quality workmanship
