An opportunity has arisen to join our Compliance Team within the Housing Asset and Investment Team. Renfrewshire Council manages a portfolio of over 12,000 properties, ensuring all landlord statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
You will assist the Statutory Compliance Co-ordinators (covering Asbestos Safety, Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Water Safety, Lifts, and Fire Safety) in the strategic management of statutory compliance and regulatory activities related to all Housing Revenue Account (HRA) assets. This includes overseeing inspection and service regimes to ensure full compliance and minimize residual risks to tenants, employees, and third parties. You will support the procurement and delivery of statutory compliance contracts, internal and external quality control and assurance arrangements, and monitor and report on performance.
You will contribute to developing and implementing strategic approaches to effectively manage landlord compliance obligations and regulatory requirements, reducing risks to customers, staff, and third parties.
Applicants must have a recognised SQA in Information Technology at Nat 5 (or equivalent). It is desirable to possess a professional qualification such as the Institute of Data Management (IDM), P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings, an HND or similar qualification, or relevant health and safety qualifications like NEBOSH or a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards). Knowledge of P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos, P403 Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM), and P404 Clearance Testing and Reoccupation Certification are also desirable.
Experience in statutory landlord compliance procedures within the social housing sector, particularly concerning asbestos, gas, and electrical safety, is highly desirable. You should be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and willing to attend out-of-hours meetings as required. Effective communication skills, ICT proficiency (especially Microsoft Office and database software), strong organisational abilities, and workload prioritisation skills are essential.
A full, current driving licence is desirable.
