Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables

  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead in creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Forecast accurate cost analyses for projects.
  • Complete necessary technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality-control testing on new products/systems and oversee their construction, development, and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related fields.
  • Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills continually.
  • Solve complex problems and innovate existing solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases as needed.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.

Skill Requirements

  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
