Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables:
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and planning new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Develop detailed technical plans for concepts.
  • Utilize mathematical and scientific skills to craft practical solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for products or constructions.
  • Calculate accurate project cost forecasts.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control, oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead project phases or activities as required.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS standards.
Skill Requirements:
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses and certifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
