Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and a host of Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • May lead in creating new product or service ideas and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Manage projects from initial design to production and installation.
  • Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific skills to create practical solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Perform accurate cost analysis forecasts.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems and innovate solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases and mentor colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and customer-focused.
  • Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
