Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the systems engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • May lead in creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Manage projects from initial design to production and installation.
  • Draw up detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Utilize mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Calculate accurate cost analysis forecasts for projects.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering discipline and related disciplines.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project steps and be accountable for ongoing activities.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and customer-focused.
  • Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
