Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and a host of Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • May be required to lead on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Taking ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Drawing up detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Using mathematical and scientific skills to create real-world solutions.
  • Selecting appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Calculating accurate cost analysis forecasts for projects.
  • Completing technical and regulatory documents.
  • Ensuring quality-control tests on new products/systems and overseeing their construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of own engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems and innovate solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project steps when required.
  • Mentor colleagues with less experience.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical SISS experience, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and customer-focused.
  • Passion for problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
