Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead ideas for new products or services and develop plans for new designs.
  • Manage projects from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific skills to create real-world solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for products or construction.
  • Calculate accurate cost forecasts for projects.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
  • Arrange testing for products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure timely project completion within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases as required.
  • Mentor colleagues with less experience.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
