Station Information Systems (SISS) Design Engineer - Collaborate with premier UK transport networks (Previous Relevant Experience is Required), Luton, Bedfordshire

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team at Telent. You will work within a dedicated segment focused on maintaining the UK-wide rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the System Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrades primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc., infrastructure. You will manage all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical tasks related to SISS within a rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead initiatives for new products or services and develop plans for new designs.
  • Take ideas from initial design to production and installation.
  • Develop detailed technical plans for concepts and ideas.
  • Utilize mathematical and scientific skills to create practical solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Forecast accurate project costs.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related fields.
  • Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Continuously develop engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases, with accountability for ongoing activities.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience with SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Problem-solving passion and strong analytical skills.
