Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within Telent's dedicated team responsible for maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients such as Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will oversee project upgrade works primarily across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. You will handle all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical execution of SISS within a rail environment.

Typical Deliverables:

  • Extensive experience in system design, surveying, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead initiatives for new products or services, including planning and design.
  • Manage projects from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
  • Select suitable materials for construction or products.
  • Perform accurate cost analysis and forecasting for projects.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee the construction, development, and deployment of systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and related fields.
  • Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Continuously develop personal engineering skills.
  • Resolve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases, and be accountable for ongoing activities.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.

Skill Requirements:

  • Proven experience in SISS, engineering, design, and surveying.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Passion for problem-solving and delivering practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical and visualization skills.
