Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Leading on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
  • Taking ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
  • Drawing detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Using mathematical and scientific skills to create workable solutions.
  • Selecting appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Calculating accurate cost analysis forecasts.
  • Completing technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensuring quality-control tests and overseeing construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines.
  • Arranging testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Developing personal engineering skills.
  • Solving complex problems with new perspectives.
  • Working independently with minimal guidance.
  • Leading projects or project steps and mentoring colleagues.
  • Complying with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical SISS experience, including engineering, design, and survey skills.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and other CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer-focused with stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
