Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail and a host of Train Operating Companies.

Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer’s projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.

Typical Deliverables
  • Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
  • Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
  • Manage ideas from initial design to production or installation.
  • Create detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
  • Forecast accurate project costs.
  • Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related fields.
  • Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop personal engineering skills.
  • Solve complex problems and innovate solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Lead projects or project phases and mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
  • Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and surveying.
  • Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and focus on customer needs.
  • Passion for problem-solving and providing workable solutions.
  • Strong analytical and visualization skills.
