Job description

You will be involved in providing high-quality Hand Therapy to a diverse case mix. While a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and splinting skills is desirable, full training will be provided. You will be supported in developing your clinical skills within the team.

We seek someone adaptable to a changing environment who can work effectively in a busy outpatient department, demonstrating strong prioritization, delegation, and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

The service is evolving, and you will be expected to actively participate in its development.

Job Overview:
  1. Deliver effective therapy for patients in the outpatient hands and plastics service, utilizing specialized theoretical and technical skills.
  2. Manage and prioritize a caseload of patients with acute and complex needs independently, using evidence-based, client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions in an outpatient setting.
  3. Support clinical team leads in providing leadership, supervision, and appraisal for junior staff and students.
  4. Participate in planning, developing, and evaluating therapy services, taking responsibility for specific projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide high-standard therapy to patients with various hand conditions, including post-trauma and post-elective surgery, within an outpatient setting.
  2. Perform specialist assessments, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with diverse and complex presentations.
  3. Contribute to implementing changes in practice and protocols.
  4. Support organizational objectives around patient-centered care, quality, patient experience, and patient flow.
