Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Security Guard to join Kingdom Services Group Ltd, working at the Port of Lerwick, ZE1 area.

Hours: On average 48 - 60 hours per week, various shifts as per site requirements. 5 on 5 off, start and finish times will vary depending on the arrival and departure of cruise ships, but standard hours are 06:00am - 18:00pm.

Pay rate: £14.88 per hour.

Please note, this role is a seasonal fixed-term contract.

Role Overview: Play a vital role in ensuring the security and smooth operation of a bustling UK port facility. As a Port Security Officer, you'll uphold high standards of safety and compliance, protecting cargo, infrastructure, and personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining Vigilance: Conduct regular patrols, monitor activity, and identify potential security threats.
• Access Control: Manage and enforce access procedures for vehicles, personnel, and cargo, ensuring only authorized individuals and goods enter restricted areas.
• Security Awareness: Provide training and guidance to port staff and contractors to foster security consciousness.
• Incident Response: Respond swiftly and decisively to emergencies, coordinating with emergency services and implementing response protocols.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to UK regulations and maritime security standards, including the ISPS Code.
• Reporting: Keep accurate records of security activities, incidents, and observations.
• Technology: Effectively use security software and communication systems to monitor activity.
• Cruise Operations: Ensure safe arrival, stay, and departure of cruise ships, interacting with passengers and providing local information for an enjoyable experience.

Requirements:

• A valid SIA license, or training can be provided with deductions from wages.
• A full five-year checkable employment history.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
