A Vacancy at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Respiratory Physiotherapist to join the Acute Respiratory Medicine team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in a 12 month fixed term maternity leave cover for a 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week) Band 6 Physiotherapist.

The post-holder will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing Respiratory Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to complex patients including; ITU step down,tracheweaning, acute Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and neuromuscular patients. The post holder will manage their own caseload within the acute medical respiratory specialty. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team working alongside Occupational Therapists, Technicians and Physiotherapists. They will supervise and train Band 5 Physiotherapists, Technical Instructors and Students as required. They will have support from the Band 7 Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists within the team.

The team cover a range of wards including Respiratory High Care anda number ofacute medical wards. The post holder will work closely with the Band 7 Physiotherapist alongside the NIV Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner. The team works together with the Home Ventilation Servicemanaging ventilationpatients during their acute admissions.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist who is already a skilled clinician with previousrelated experience in a Medical Respiratory setting as well as a broad range of other rotations. They will be naturally empathetic,demonstratinggood communicationskills tofacilitateclose working relationships with both service users and the wider MDT. They will need to be creative and flexible to meet the changing needs of the caseload and service.


They willpossessexcellent communication skills,demonstrateemerging leadershipqualitiesand take an active interest in teaching and development of others.


In service training programs and staff appraisal systems are in operation to help you develop to meet the demands of the post.
