Job Role: Support worker/Healthcare Assistant

The Support worker / Healthcare assistant will be expected to help and assist the team with day-to-day routines including personal care and feeding.

The Healthcare Assistants / support worker must have at least 6 months experience in care and be compassionate.

Healthcare Assistants help with the day-to-day care of patients, either in homes, hospitals or in patients' own homes. They are vital members of the healthcare team.

Previous experience and/or qualifications in care are essential.

As a Healthcare Assistant/support worker, you will work under the supervision of nursing staff and alongside other Healthcare Assistants. Your duties may include:

• Helping patients with washing, showering, or dressing
• Serving food or assisting with eating
• Making and changing beds
• Turning patients to prevent pressure sores
• Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
• Helping patients move around
• Assisting with toileting and bedpans
• Keeping the ward or patient’s home tidy
• Managing supplies and equipment

Your daily tasks may involve using mobility aids and escorting patients between departments. With experience, you may participate in induction training for new healthcare assistants.
