Job Title: Standards Development Manager

About the role:

Join BSI as a Standards Development Manager (SDM) and play a key role in shaping industry standards within the Medical Devices sector. This is a diverse and dynamic opportunity to manage national and international standards committees, drive strategic initiatives, and engage with industry leaders to influence best practices.

The Acre, BSI’s head office in Covent Garden, is a two-level space designed to foster collaboration and hybrid working, promote wellbeing, creativity, and productivity, and support sustainability. It is solar-powered, fully electric, and built with environmental impact in mind. The building has achieved BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 4.5-star certifications, supporting our journey to net zero.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of standards committees, projects, and programs, ensuring they meet market and stakeholder needs.
  • Engage with key stakeholders—including industry experts, government bodies, and trade associations—to grow and develop standards.
  • Drive strategic development, identifying opportunities for new standards and expanding BSI’s influence in the sector.
  • Represent the UK internationally, providing expert input on European and global standardisation efforts.
  • Ensure timely project delivery, overseeing workflows and collaborating with internal teams, including Content, Marketing, and Policy.
  • Provide expert guidance to committee chairs, participants, and stakeholders, facilitating discussions and building consensus.
Qualifications and experience
  • A background in healthcare, preferred.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Project management expertise, capable of handling multiple publishing projects across various industries.
