Job summary

IPL, part of the Asda Family, is seeking a Stand in Security Officer to guard the site, control access, and log all entries and movements. You will liaise with engineers and reception, perform inductions for contractors, and ensure compliance with safety and site rules.

The role requires a current SIA license, proven security experience, and strong communication. You will patrol, monitor QA alerts, manage deliveries, and support emergency procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for all visitors, checking IDs and briefing on site rules.
• Coordinate with reception for collection of visitors.
• Induct contractors and manage site permits for external work.
• Record and monitor site entries, deliveries, and vehicle movements.
• Patrol the site, log notes, and raise issues with other departments.
• Liaise with Engineering and relay alarm information.
• Monitor nitrogen and CO2 levels and report critical findings.
• Assist with fire alarm activations and evacuation procedures.
• Manage traffic during shifts and ensure compliance with speed limits.
• Conduct handovers with incoming guards.
• Escalate issues as needed.

Job description

As Stand in Security Officer, you'll take charge as the guardian of the site- standing firm against intruders and unwelcome visitors, while ensuring every asset that enters or leaves is safeguarded, secure, and meticulously recorded. Your role is the frontline of protection, keeping the site safe, controlled, and resilient at all times.,

• First point of contact for all visitors, checking ID badges informing of site rules briefing if new to site, then contact the relevant manager to arrange collection from reception.
• Ensuring all contractors to site are dealt with and go through a site induction. Complete permits for external Contractors (engineers), external jobs only and only jobs you have knowledge about. No hot work permits can be completed by Security.
• Ensure vehicles to site are recorded and appropriate action taken
• Booking all deliveries on site on to computer accurately
• Patrol the site on a regular basis and book out on the patrol log making notes. When anything that is incorrect or if there is, an issue raise with other departments on site.
• Speak and liaise with Engineering department and pass on any alarm information.
• Check Nitrogen tank levels and Co2 levels and report if under the reorder line or site critical level.
• Assist in any fire alarm activations and follow the correct fire evacuation procedure.
• Traffic duties during shift change and throughout the day for delivery vehicles entering site. Making sure all vehicles adhere to the site speed limits and site safety rules.
• Conduct handover with next set of guards
• Previous experience in security officer role.
• Valid SIA License Qualification
• Excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with colleagues and visitors
• Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team

• Basic numeric and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook essential)
