Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a skilled Stainless Steel Pipe Fabricator to join our Fabrications team in Keighley, West Yorkshire. The role involves fabricating and welding stainless steel pipework to detailed drawings, inspecting components, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

You will read engineering drawings, perform bevel preparation, and operate MIG/TIG equipment with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience in pipework assembly and bevel preparation.
• Knowledge of TIG welding and purging processes.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld stainless steel pipework per drawings.
• Manufacture small to large assemblies following welding procedures.
• Inspect components against drawings before fabrication.
• Perform self-inspections and buddy checks.
• Carry out PUWER checks on plant equipment.
• Operate MIG and TIG welders, cutting tools, and hand tools.
• Identify fabrication issues and escalate to Workshop Manager.
• Manage workloads to meet deadlines.

Title: Stainless Steel Pipe Fabricator

Location: Keighley, West Yorkshire

An opportunity has arisen for a Stainless Steel Pipe Fabricator to join the team at Galliford Try within our Fabrications business unit

As a Stainless Steel Pipe Fabricator you will perform the duties of a fabricator/welder carrying out the manufacture of various pipework assemblies.

What you will be doing:

• Fabricating and welding stainless steel pipework in the line with detailed fabrication drawings.

• Manufacturing small to large scale assemblies whilst following bespoke welding procedures and quality standards.

• Inspecting and verifying components against engineering drawings before commencing fabrication work.

• Carrying out self-inspections and completing inspection and test documentation, as well as conducting buddy checks on colleague's work.

• Performing PUWER checks on plant equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance.

• Operating MIG and TIG welding equipment, cutting tools, saws, drilling machines, and hand tolls to produce high-quality fabrications within specified tolerances.

• Identifying fabrication issues, discrepancies, or opportunities for improved manufacturing methods and escalating these to the Workshop Manager.

• Managing workloads effectively, prioritising tasks and multitasking to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the required standard.

About you:

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience in pipework assembly, including bevel preparation and understanding weld shrinkage during tack-up.
• Knowledge of TIG welding, purging processes, and working to approved weld procedures.
• Experience with mild steel structural steelwork.
• Background in a similar fabrication environment with a string focus on accuracy and quality.
• Extensive fabrication experience, particularly in mild steel structural steelwork.
• Strong commitment to health and safety, including the consistent use of PPE.
