Job summary

Dex is partnering with a group rebuilding the UK residential lettings market by acquiring agencies and migrating portfolios to an AI-powered platform. You will take technical ownership of one core engineering domain, stay in code, and ship production-grade agentic systems that automate tenant management, financial reconciliations, and maintenance logistics.

The role

This business is rebuilding the UK residential lettings market by executing an aggressive roll-up strategy. Rather than selling software to legacy letting agencies, they acquire them outright, transition their entire landlord and tenant books onto a unified AI-powered platform within eight weeks, and automate decades of operational manual work. Backed by top-tier global venture firms with tens of millions in funding through Series A, their model creates an immediate, direct line between software delivery and bottom-line revenue.

You will take technical ownership of one of three core engineering domains: Tenant Find, Property Management, or Payments. This is not an ivory-tower advisory seat where you write design docs and delegate execution; you will stay in the code, partner directly with product to deconstruct legacy operational edge cases, and ship production agentic systems. The work

• Architect, build, and scale an entire vertical domain end-to-end, translating messy, legacy agency workflows into clean, resilient software systems.
• Deploy pragmatic AI and agentic systems into production to automate complex tenant management, financial reconciliations, and maintenance logistics.
• Design and streamline data migration and platform infrastructure to support rapidly porting newly acquired agency portfolios onto the platform in under two months.
• Write production-grade TypeScript across the full stack while setting technical direction, reviewing architecture, and mentoring engineers as the team scales.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated track record as a Staff or Lead Engineer owning complex, mission-critical systems end-to-end from problem definition through to production.
• Deep hands-on expertise across the full TypeScript ecosystem, specifically Node.js on the backend, React on the frontend, and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Proven experience deploying pragmatic AI, LLM tooling, or agentic workflows that hold up under real production load, rather than toy prototypes or research experiments.
• Startup or scale-up experience with high ambiguity, where you have driven architectural decisions based on operational reality and business outcomes rather than abstract ideals.
