Job summary

Metrea is seeking a dynamic software engineer to join our development team, building geospatial data processing and visualization solutions. The role emphasizes delivering features with attention to technical debt, reliability, and security in a hybrid work setting located in Harwell, Oxfordshire.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in C#, Agile delivery, and web applications, with 7+ years in active software development.

Qualifications

HND or BSc in Software Engineering or related CS field.
7+ years of demonstrable web software development experience.
Strong C# proficiency and practical AGILE delivery experience.
Excellent communication and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive, well-organised with solid documentation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of product features with attention to debt, design, reliability, monitoring and business needs.
Refactor complex systems and balance perfection with technical debt against priorities.
Drive design for complex tech problems or new features.
Debug and resolve software issues quickly and efficiently.
Mentor engineers, participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
Onboard and help grow junior engineers on the team.
Communicate risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with product, engineering and UI Design to align with the roadmap.
