Staff Software Engineer - Payment Solutions (Hybrid)

About the Role:

As a Staff Software Engineer within the Payment Processing team, you'll be a technical leader focused on building and enhancing complex payment integration systems. You'll help design highly available, scalable services while mentoring your peers and driving engineering excellence across teams.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving critical technical challenges and enjoys working in high-impact, fast-moving environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and enhancement of payment network integrations

• Architect and implement RESTful APIs and container-based microservices

• Champion best practices in system design, development, and delivery

• Guide quality engineering efforts, including test automation and performance testing

• Mentor team members and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration

• Manage multiple workstreams, ensuring technical alignment and timely delivery

• Communicate progress, risks, and solutions clearly with cross-functional teams and leadership

Required Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience with Core Java, JEE technologies, and modern web frameworks

• Proven track record in designing and deploying REST/SOAP APIs using JSON and XML

• Hands-on experience with Kafka (setup, maintenance, stream processing)

• Proficiency with containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Strong working knowledge of RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2) and/or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB)

• Experience in building CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling

• Solid background in the payments, fintech, or financial services sectors preferred

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ability to lead scrum ceremonies

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to explain complex solutions to non-technical stakeholders
