Job summary

Wayve in London leads Embodied AI for autonomous driving. As Staff Robotics Engineer in the AV Core organisation, you will steer the technical direction of fault detection and fallback for driverless operation, working with ML specialists to build robust systems and contribute to real-world deployments.

You will mentor a senior team, guide architecture reviews, and ensure safety-critical decisions are well evidenced.

Qualifications

• Proven robotics development and field troubleshooting experience.
• Track record of staff-level technical leadership across multiple teams.
• Exceptional technical judgement and clear communication for safety-critical decisions.
• Proficient in Python and C++ for robotics.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy and roadmap for fault detection and fallback.
• Design and train fault detection mechanisms for robust driverless operation.
• Collaborate across ML, software, and inference teams.
• Lead integration into the shared driving stack and mentor engineers.
• Improve overall robustness of the robot system beyond fault detection.
