Job summary

NQCC invites a senior researcher to lead the control and measurement of superconducting quantum computers. You will shape calibration strategies, develop measurement infrastructure, and enable measurement needs across the team.

You will scope and deliver research on scaling control, calibration and quantum error correction, and drive full‑stack integration for quantum computers at NQCC. Strong leadership and communications skills are essential for collaboration and training of staff and students.

Qualifications

  • PhD or postdoctoral research/industry equivalent in quantum computing hardware.
  • Expert in state-of-the-art experimental quantum computing systems (superconducting circuits, trapped ions, neutral atoms, photonics).
  • Expert in calibration and error characterization of multi-qubit systems.
  • Knowledgeable in quantum error mitigation and quantum error correction methods.
  • Highly experienced in measurement software for quantum computing experiments.
  • Systematic approach to planning research and experimental measurements.
  • Excellent technical communication skills across teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead control and measurement of superconducting quantum computers.
  • Develop infrastructure and best-practice for system calibration and measurement.
  • Enable the quantum measurement needs in other areas of the team and NQCC.
  • Scope and deliver research on scaling control, calibration and quantum error correction.
  • Drive full-stack integration and use of quantum computers at NQCC.
  • Establish and lead R&D collaborations on key technologies to accelerate our roadmap.
  • Develop key collaborator and supplier relationships and represent NQCC externally.
  • Train and guide technical staff and students including through line management.
  • Keep up to date with advances in the field, present and publish non-confidential results.
