Job summary

Miro is seeking a visionary Staff Product Designer to lead the design of canvas formats experiences, including prototyping and slides, and to define how AI reshapes the product development process.

You will guide the Canvas Modes stream, work with product and engineering across the org to deliver best-in-class design and AI-enabled content experiences, while mentoring other designers and influencing our design system.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS or AI-focused roles.
• 2–3 years at Staff/Principal level with ownership of complex initiatives.
• A strong portfolio showing user-focused product strategies and impact.
• Deep understanding of AI and AI design tooling and leadership in this area.
• Proven collaboration with product management, UX design, and engineering.
• Strong UX practices, information architecture, and user-centered design methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the evolution of canvas-based formats with a clear near-term vision.
• Lead exploration of generative AI to deliver rich, interactive content on Miro boards.
• Own the format experience and treat it as a startup within Miro.
• Analyze competitive landscape to craft best-in-class experiences.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to solve AI quality and discoverability challenges.
• Mentor designers and contribute to design systems and internal tooling.

About the Role

Miro is looking for a visionary Staff Product Designer to support the design of Miro’s canvas formats experiences, including prototyping and slides. This isn’t just about refining a feature; it’s about defining the future of how millions of people bring their ideas to life.

As a key leader within the Canvas Modes stream, you will lead the design evolution of these formats, helping Miro customers turn rough thinking and code-based content from in- and outside of Miro into polished, persuasive content on its canvas. We are looking for an AI Native designer -someone who doesn’t just see AI as a feature but as a fundamental shift in the product development process and ultimately, a massive opportunity.

You will be tasked with shaping not just where Miro’s formats offering should be, but where it is going - ensuring we aren't just keeping pace with the market, but setting it.

What you’ll do

• Define and drive the evolution of Miro’s canvas-based formats. You’ll articulate a near-term design vision that disrupts the norms and looks where the market is going.
• Be a tireless innovator in the AI space. You will explore how generative AI can collapse the gap between a rough idea and rich, interactive content on a Miro board.
• Approach the product with an entrepreneurial spirit and sense of ownership. You’ll navigate ambiguity, build lean experiments, and treat the format experience as your own startup within Miro.
• Leverage your deep understanding of the competitive landscape to create a best-in-class experience that rivals any competitor while maintaining Miro’s ease of use and considering our other suite of formats.
• Partner with Product and Engineering across the org to solve complex technical- and design challenges around AI quality, discoverability, and the seamless transition between the ‘infinite canvas’ and the format experiences within it.
• Set the bar for design excellence at Miro, mentoring other designers and contributing to the evolution of our design systems and internal tooling.

What you’ll need

• 10+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or AI-focused roles.
• At least 2-3 years operating at a Staff / Principal level, with proven ownership of complex initiatives.
• A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create clear, user-focused products and strategies. Demonstrating both the impact on user experience and business goals.
• A deep understanding of AI and AI design tooling and the ability to show you’re leading the charge.
• Proven experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX design, and engineering, to deliver seamless content solutions.
• Deep understanding of UX practices, information architecture, and user-centred design methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the value of design and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
• A proactive and flexible approach, comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment and managing multiple priorities.
• Experience working on design tools, editors, or creative software is a massive plus.
