Job description

The role

The PowerVR team produces the world's leading family of ultra-low power GPU IP cores. We are scaling our architecture team and are looking for GPU experts to help define the future generations of PowerVR GPU architecture. In this role, you will work closely with the company's senior leadership to define the roadmap of our GPU family and deliver the architecture of our next-generation GPUs. You will:

  • Collaborate with a passionate team of GPU architects focused on efficiency
  • Analyze industry trends and their impact on GPU development
  • Gather ideas and requirements from stakeholders
  • Specify and deliver detailed architectural features
  • Conduct deep analyses to meet power, performance, area, and bandwidth targets
  • Map novel algorithms to efficient hardware implementations
  • Work with the modeling team to evaluate new ideas and set performance goals
  • Contribute to defining a technology roadmap that advances in PPA and features
  • Support the implementation team through design and verification
  • Review data with the performance team to validate design metrics
  • Participate in reviews and suggest improvements
  • Influence the company's long-term technology roadmap
  • Engage with customers and industry standards bodies as needed
  • Patent innovations

Requirements include:

  • Experience with GPU architecture or similar complex systems
  • Knowledge of modern 3D graphics and compute APIs such as Vulkan, D3D12, and OpenCL
  • Understanding of digital ASIC design methodologies
  • Ability to plan, estimate, and manage your work independently
  • Experience in architecture exploration with tangible feature specifications
  • Understanding of design and verification challenges for effective trade-offs
  • Strong communication skills to justify technical decisions

Additional desirable skills:

  • Strong math and algorithm skills
  • Experience in writing micro-architecture specifications
  • Performance analysis expertise using hardware waves and driver performance data
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards like ISO26262
