Burns Sheehan is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer for an AI-native SaaS platform in the UK. The role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership to shape scalable, reliable infrastructure across real-time services.

Responsibilities include building platform tooling, owning CI/CD, and mentoring engineers while aligning with product roadmaps. The role offers hybrid London-based options and equity alongside a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, with Go as a core language.
• Experience designing distributed systems in production environments.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (GCP or AWS).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve platform infrastructure using Go, Terraform, Kubernetes and GCP.
• Design reliable distributed systems to support a real-time AI-native SaaS product.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for faster, safer builds and deployments.
• Build automation and internal tooling to remove toil for engineering teams.
• Improve observability across metrics, logging, tracing and production monitoring.
• Define and manage SLOs across latency, availability and error rates.
• Lead incident response and ship long-term fixes as code.
