- Must be courteous to patients, visitors and employees.
- Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement. Identifies pertinent patient problems. (20%)E
- Sets objective, measurable treatment goals incorporating patient's goal for functional outcome. Establishes a treatment plan based on patient needs and patient family input. (20%)E
- Performs treatment procedures and adapts therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises. Re-evaluates patients, modifies treatment plan and procedures based on patient progress.(20%)E
- Provides objective, analytic documentation of patient care, patient/family education and information regarding units of service. Communicates effectively with medical/allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning. (15%)E
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment program, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. (5%)E
- Trains new personnel as required, assists the Manager with on the job training.
- Provides guidance and direction to PTAs aides and affiliating students.
- Enhances professional growth and development through approved participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Participates in appropriate inservice educational programs.
- Attends meetings as required. (5%)
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. (5%)
- Graduate of an APTA accredited Physical Therapy program with a degree in Physical Therapy.
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- One to two years experience preferred.
- Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics of the APTA.
- Demonstrates current clinical competency.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Purpose of Position
Administers rehabilitative and physical therapy services to in and out patients as prescribed by the physician. The therapist will assess, test, treat and evaluate infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients, recognizing age specific differences, and variations in methods used in patient assessment, care and support required for these different age groups. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in helping to restore function and in preventing disability.
