Job description

Your new company
This role is within the Department for Infrastructure in the Northern Ireland Civil Service. This is a temporary contract which will be 9 months+ and will be extended. You will have the chance to go for permanency in external competitions throughout your time in this role. This temporary role will give you the chance to gain experience and knowledge in the Northern Ireland Civil Service.

Your new role
You will be working largely as interim support for the Deputy Secretary, mainly providing financial support under Judith. Your responsibilities will include managing collective pieces, planning, community transport, budget expenditure, payment approvals, monitoring spending, setting budgets, analyzing community transport financial data, and some financial analysis. This role is more aligned with a Management Accountant than a Financial Accountant. The position is full-time, with flexibility to work 30 hours in the office, 1 or 2 days a week, with the possibility of moving towards 2 days per week.

To provide interim business support for the CPPT group and Planning Directorates, including special exercises on planning financial sustainability and community transport funding analysis. Responsibilities include:

  • Resource budget management
  • Salary profiling and costing
  • Review and analysis of planning and community transport income and expenditure
  • Review of funding methodologies

What you'll need to succeed

  • One year's post-qualification finance experience including staffing and resource budget management, financial data analysis, and service costing
  • Experience with Excel and financial accounting software
  • Active membership of an accredited accountancy body (ACA/ACCA/CIMA, etc.) or equivalent qualification

What you'll get in return

£22.68 per hour, £38,936 annually, 37-hour workweek, 37 days annual leave, 2 days in the office, and flexible working options.
