Staff Nurse, Women's Health Unit

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, clinicallyskilled, friendly and kind staff nurse to join our nursing team on the WomensHealth Unit, Redditch.

We provide a high-quality ambulatory gynaecology service forwomen across Worcestershire to include diagnostics and treatments usingoutpatient hysteroscopy, cystoscopy, colposcopy, minor procedures anddiagnostic ultrasound scanning.

This is an interesting,varied and emotionally demanding area of nursing, which is hugely rewarding fora person that is passionate about Womens Health. We have a cheerful andskilled nursing team on the unit and work closely with the medics to provide ourservices. You will need to haveexcellent communication skills to engage with patients, and colleagues. This is an ideal opportunity for a registerednurse currently working at Band 5 and you will be encouraged to develop and enhanceyour knowledge and skills in womens health.

This is a 12-month, FixedTerm post to cover a secondment within the team. Shifts are 0730-1800h,generally Monday-Friday. There is anoption of additional shifts on occasions when waiting lists require anadditional clinic, but there is no obligation for this.

Key Duties:

You will develop, implement and evaluate the programmes ofcare including discharge planning for each patient.

You will safeguard vulnerable adults.

You will participate in preceptorship programmes asappropriate and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/role model to lessexperienced staff.

You will educate patients and their carers as required wherea need has been identified, including information on adopting a healthierlifestyle.

You will complete patient documentation correctly.

You will communicate effectively with patients carers andmembers of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will be responsible for developing and sustaining ownknowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with NMCrequirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence ofreflective practice.

You will assist in the training and development of studentnurses and health care assistants and complete training as required.

You will contribute to research and development programmeswithin the Unit.

You will contribute to the setting and monitoring ofmeasurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.

You will participate in the handling of complaints inaccordance with Trust policy.

You will maintain a safe clean environment and follow localTrust IPC policy.

You will show an awareness of budgeting, exercise care andeconomy in the ordering and use of equipment.

You will assist in the assessment of staffing requirements,report problems to the appropriate manager.

In the absence of a more senior member of staff and as partof you development programme, with support, will be able to undertakeclinical/shift management within the department.

Other Job Requirements:

The post holder may occasionally be required to work acrossother areas of the Trust including Worcestershire Royal Hospital, The AlexandraHospital, Redditch and Kidderminster Treatment Centre.

Ability to undertake manual handling and movement tasks andwear appropriate protective equipment.

Prepared and able to work variable shift pattern

Awareness of self-presentation to patients and relatives.

Professional:

Adheres to the Trust Uniform and dress code policy

Responsible as a trained nurse for the control andadministration of drugs within the regulations outlined in Worcester AcuteHospital NHS Trust Medicines policy and the NMC, and attends the Medicinemanagement course.

Participates in Unit projects, enhancing the standards ofcare.

Assist in the updating of Professional practice /proceduresin line with current research

Contribute to the learning environment conductive fornursing students and other staff in training.

Maintain own personal portfolio

Ensure they meet the requirements for revalidation.
